Laser Engineer
This position in the department of Physics is to be filled at the earliest possible date for an indefinite period. The employment is remunerated according to salary group 13 TV‑L. This is a full-time position. Part-time employment or a reduction to part-time employment is principally possible.
YOUR TASKS:
- integration of high-power lasers into other ultrafast experimental techniques, e. g. the ultrafast-electron diffraction farm at TU Dortmund
- operation and maintenance of continuous wave and high-power femtosecond laser systems including optical parametric amplifiers with strong focus on stability
- providing high-quality laser beams and synchronization to rf photocathodes, or among multiple femtosecond amplifier lasers and optical parametric amplifiers

YOUR EXPECTED QUALIFICATIONS:
- degree in laser engineering or related field with 3 years or more of practical experience based on this degree
- fluency in English
IDEAL ASSETS ARE:
- experience in operation and construction of high-power laser systems
- German language skills or the willingness to learn German in due time
- experience in nonlinear laser optics, high-power laser transport, optical parametric amplification, pulse compression and terahertz generation
- familiarity with ultrafast laser instrumentation and concepts of time-resolved spectroscopy
- routine with laser simulation and optics-design tools
- knowledge about control system and CAD software
- organizational competence and flexibility combined with the ability to work as part of a versatile team of scientists, engineers and students
